Don't Suffer with Sore Feet!

Happy Feet inline

Sore Feet? Blisters? Pressure points? If your feet are sore, it's hard to enjoy skating. Don't suffer! There are some solutions.

If you wear socks in your skates, be sure they are clean, dry, fit snugly, and are at least as high as your boot. Keep socks in your skate bag that are ideal for skating so you always have them. As basic as this sounds, make sure there are no wrinkles...it's common for kids to have crumpled up socks and often parents don't notice.

Every time you put on your skates, loosen the laces all the way to the toes. Put your foot in the skate and press your ankle to the back of your boot, lift your toes, and then tighten your skates as you like.  Don't think that it's a good time-saving measure to force your foot into a half-tightened boot so you only have to do the other half of the tightening!  Always fully loosen the laces.

Skates should not be too big. Only a few millimeters are needed at the toe of the skate. The ankle cuff of the skate should not touch when tightened.

Heat mold your boots according to the manufacturers instructions. If there are pressure points, they can be pushed out and manipulated to relieve some of the discomfort.

If you have tried all of these things and you're still bothered by foot discomfort there are a couple of miracle products that can really help.

Ezee fit booties and Intelligel Tubes are amazing solutions for ankle discomfort.

Gel Tubes are a soft, comfortable, stretch fabric tube fully lined with proprietary polymer gel. The unique vitamin enriched oil based polymer gel helps reduce friction and pressure, alleviating painful rubbing, soreness, and tenderness. Excellent protection against chafing and skin rub.

Ezee Fit are form-fitting ankle booties that fit tightly against your skin creating a friction barrier. Available in three thicknesses so you can choose the one best suited for your needs. Wear instead of, or underneath your socks. Made of super stretch neoprene or bonded lycra.

You will find these products in our "Protective Gear" section.

Don't let foot discomfort spoil your speed skating fun! Parents, please take your children seriously when they complain about sore feet, and do your best to help them find a solution. Speed skating will be so much more enjoyable for them if you do.
